Sermon Synopsis: Solid Ground – Romans 8:18-30

  • The Inheritance of Suffering: As followers of Christ, we do not just inherit future glory, but also the present sufferings of Jesus, which include rejection and the cost of standing boldly for faith.
  • A Groaning Creation: Because of the deep impact of sin, the entire physical world "groans," experiencing decay, disease, and disaster while eagerly awaiting liberation and restoration when Christ returns.
  • Citizens in Hostile Territory: Believers live as citizens of another kingdom currently residing in hostile territory. We groan inwardly for the redemption of our bodies and the finality of God's plan while carrying light into the darkness.
  • The Intercession of the Holy Spirit: When we are fatigued or do not know how to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with "wordless groans," guiding our lives according to the will of God and providing comfort, conviction, and truth.
  • God’s Sovereignty in All Things: In Romans 8:28, we are reminded that God causes all things—including our disappointments, agonies, and challenges—to work together for the good of those who love Him and for His ultimate glory.
  • Standing Firm: The church is encouraged to stand firm on solid ground, trusting that God is not merely "hoping" things work out but is actively orchestrating every detail of our lives for His purposes.
