Child DevELOPMENT Center/k2 & k3 Academy
Government Street Baptist Child Development Center offers an Early Education program for children six weeks through K1(up to 24 months). Our K2 & K3 Christian Academy offers a strong age-appropriate academic setting for children ages 2 years old by September 1 through 3 years of age. The program was established by Government Street Baptist Church to provide quality education and childcare in a safe, loving, Christian environment. The school serves as an extension of the home, seeking to educate the whole child – spiritually, cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically. We do this while meeting or exceeding the AL state requirements for teacher/child ratio in all classes.
CURRICULUM: K3 classes: We use a curriculum from Bob Jones University Press’s Pathways for Preschool program, designed specifically for K3 and based on much research; the program is developmentally appropriate. Young learners will delight in learning new things as they meet daily with fun characters, songs, rhymes, games, crafts, stories, learning activities, and more, students will learn through play. They will also use ABC Jesus Loves Me for a unique interactive approach for their Bible lessons.
K2 classes as well as our 15-24 month classes use a curriculum from ABC Jesus Loves Me, because it’s never too early to begin teaching your toddler. This curriculum includes comprehensive learning for: Academics, Bible, Development (Fine and Gross Motor), Music, and Self-care.
Teachers use a hands-on approach when planning the curriculum and learning centers in all age groups are an integral part of each day. Classroom instructions in all subject areas are based on God’s Word.
Infants-up to 15 months old will be introduced to an all-new curriculum to include sign language, sensory experiences, gross and fine motor skill activities, story time, language development and music.
SAFETY: Safety is an utmost priority for us. We have our outer doors locked at all times, visitors must ring a doorbell to be allowed entrance after determining their reason for visit. We have detailed safety procedures in place to ensure your children are safe while in our care. We conduct emergency drills (fire, inclement weather, lockdown) on a routine basis.
COMMUNICATION: Parents are informed of progress and updated throughout the day using our Procare Mobile App and other papers may be sent home regularly.
